Specification:
*Pre-gelatinised starch is starch which has been cooked and then dried in the starch factory on a drum dryer or in an extruder making the starch cold-water-soluble. Spray dryers are used to obtain dry starch sugars and low viscous pre-gelatinised starch powder. Pre-gelatinised starch is a processed carbohydrate. It does not contain gelatin and is safe for vegetarians and vegans.
Instructions or Information:
As the B36 is a water soluble paste, to some extent
the amount of cold water you add to the paste powder is up to you. Most would make it up to the consistency of
wallpaper paste. This is quite ‘gloopy’
and jellified. So if you turn the mixing
container upside-down, the paste will stay in place. However, if you prefer using the paste
wetter, then this is fine too. Just bear
in mind that the paste will take longer to dry, as there is more water to evaporate
away. It also depends on what you are doing:
- For paper to paper, then thicker is better
- For leather to board, slightly wetter would be better, as both
leather and board are vey absorbent.
In fact with leather you may want to do a first application on the
leather, allow to dry before applying a second coat.
- For ‘paste-washing, then the paste can be wetter still.
It really is a matter of trial and error depending
on what you are doing.
